Creating a New Case - Existing MRN
AgileEMR – Creating a New Case for an Existing Patient
FEATURE PURPOSE: To create a new case (episode of care) for an existing patient.
- Search for an existing patient. Refer to the steps on Searching a Patient here: https://agileemr.helpscoutdocs.com/article/353-searching-a-case
- Once in the patient's case, click on the magnifying glass to go to the Patient Overview
- Select "New Case" in the upper left corner. This will open the Create a New Case window
- Select if the case is Documentation or Non-Documentation
- Verify that that is the correct patient in AgileEMR
- Select Create
- This will create a new Case (episode of care) under the same MRN number - the Patient Tab will automatically open and the patient demographics will populate
- The patient’s Referral Information and Insurance Information will need to be created

- If a new case is created, but it is not created from the Patient Home Screen, then it will be added as a new case with a new MRN. If this happens and you need to merge a patient's MRN number, you can do so from the Patient Home Screen.
